1. You don’t get each other

According to Psych2Go, compatibility is related to happiness. Although we do love our significant others in spite of their flaws and imperfections, it is still very important to understand how your partner is feeling. Miscommunication can sabotage a happy relationship.

2. You’re too different

It is perfectly fine to be your own person. After all, we are all individuals with our own thoughts, beliefs, and desires for the future. However, it is still important to have common interests with our partners. According to Psych2Go, if you are in a relationship with someone who doesn’t share the same ideals, values, humor, or principles, it can eventually make it very difficult to relate to each other in a meaningful way.

3. You try to change each other…not grow and learn together

A true partner would not want to change you to suit their own needs. Change should happen if you decide it works for you. A supportive relationship doesn’t force change onto the other person.

4. There is constant or highly frequent arguing

Arguing and disagreements are completely normal in a compatible relationship. No one should be without an opinion. However, when the fighting gets to a point where there is name-calling, humiliation, and shouting, the relationship is unhealthy.

5. You attain peace by avoiding all the problems

Every relationship has problems. It wouldn’t be normal if it didn’t. There are times when you just don’t see eye to eye and you need to talk it through. It’s best to bring these issues to the forefront in order to figure out a solution that is beneficial for each person. If you’re ‘sweeping problems under the rug’ in your relationship, you might just trip over it later.

6. Your socializing is isolated from everyone else

Psych2Go is quick to point out that a healthy relationship actually involves many people. Your significant other has friends and so do you. However, if you and your partner tend to not include any friends or family, it could make for an isolating relationship. Couples in healthy, loving relationships aren’t afraid to let others into their lives.

7. You’re not attracted to them

A compatible relationship needs to include chemistry and romance. Although this can look different depending on the couple, it is an important component of a strong bond.

Although love can look very different to each person, it comes down to a basic notion of happiness and respect. The other person in your life should make you a better person and vice-versa.
