If you are snacking because you don’t have anything else to do, you need some extra fuel in the tank, or you are just plain hungry, don’t forget to listen to your body. Keeping track of how much energy you use throughout the day can be extremely helpful.

If you want to maintain a healthy body, keeping detailed energy logs must be at the top of your list. Snacking can be detrimental, or it can be extremely positive.

Eating at the right times and the right things takes a lot of practice. Energy can be gained from food, or sapped if you eat fatty stuff. Eating three meals and two snacks is widely accepted as the best way of doing things. If you are hungry, keep yourself on this schedule.

If you are wondering what you can eat to have a healthy snack, consider one of these recipes. These food ideas will give you energy and are healthy as well. Here are five healthy snacks to know.

1. Apples dipped in Greek yogurt

The best part of Greek yogurt is how much protein it contains. Foods with high protein will keep you full for a long while. You can put some vanilla yogurt in a bowl and sprinkle it with cinnamon or honey or other toppings. Peanut butter also tastes delicious in this recipe. After you mix it up, dip your apple slices and enjoy the delicious snack.

2. Create your own trail mix

If you buy a trail mix from the store, it tastes really good but leaves you feeling exhausted. Why is that? Well, it’s because those M&M’s and sugar additives put you on a sugar high. When you come off of it, your body crashes hard.

Try making your own trail mix by going with your own ingredients. Purchase dried fruit, nuts, and one slightly sweet treat to put in the middle. Just be wary to not include too much of the sugary substance. Then, finish your creation and eat the great trail mix that comes without a crash.

3. Fruit and Cheese Kabobs off a stick

Fresh fruit is a summer delicacy. First, grab some bamboo skewer kabobs, chop your favorite fruit, and then slice some delicious cheese. These skewers will be full of nutrients and protein from the cheese. If you want to pack them with more protein consider going the ham and pineapple route for an extremely Hawaiian taste. Feel free to drizzle the top of these skewers with honey or another tasty sauce.

4. Baked fruit such as pineapples, peaches, or apples

Are you one of those people with a sweet tooth? Us too! Try baking your fruit. It will change the way you look at healthy stuff.

First of all, cut the fruit into small bite-sized pieces. Then, coat them with either cinnamon, cinnamon sugar, or another seasoning. Be careful to not use anything too sugary, as we want to avoid the crash. Bake the fruit until it’s soft and warm. If you want to add yogurt to this it is great as well!

5. Toss anything that’s healthy in the blender and call it a dip!

It really only matters that you start with a solid base. We recommend Greek yogurt, black or garbanzo beans, and avocados for starters. Then add flavors with spices and other toppings.

Blend until it’s creamy and smooth. Make sure you taste it and tweak it until you get it just right. Then serve it to yourself or your friends with fruits, chips, or vegetables.

Lots of people think that snacking isn’t fun, and many people associate it with gaining weight. But it doesn’t have to be that way, it just depends on how you do it!
