Unfortunately, not every newborn baby gets to have a warm and loving home from the very beginning. Sometimes, parents don’t want anything to do with their kids, and there are still way too many stories about moms and dads abandoning their children, leaving them completely helpless.
Liza Verbitskaya, a little girl from Russia, didn’t exactly have a good start in life and knows exactly what it feels like to be abandoned.
In fact, Liza’s story is even a bit similar to the beginning of Harry Potter. Shortly after birth, her parents seemingly decided that they didn’t want to care for her, and they did something absolutely condemnable.
Liza’s parents simply dumped her in a completely unoccupied and empty home.
Liza, who was born in Yaroslavl, was completely helpless. She was just a baby, she couldn’t get help and must’ve been completely in panic without both of her parents around.
The only thing she could do was cry, and luckily, her loud cries only became louder and louder, and she managed to grab the attention of a neighbor.
All of the cries eventually worried the neighbor, because he thought it was weird that they didn’t stop. He suspected that the baby was left alone in the building and immediately called the police.
When police officers arrived at the scene, they were completely shocked.
The entire home was empty and deserted. It was clear that there were people living there at one point, but they packed everything up and didn’t look back. They took everything with them, except for their own child.
The baby was quickly identified as Liza, and the authorities could begin searching for the girl’s parents.
Unfortunately, the longer officers searched, the more hope disappeared. Nobody knew where the parents were. Friends, family, and acquaintances were flabbergasted when they heard the story, it just seemed as if they disappeared out of thin air.
In other words, Liza was still all alone, until she met a person that would change her life forever.
The little girl was injured and needed medical check-ups, so she was sent to the hospital where she could stay for a while until she was back at a hundred percent.
At the hospital, she met a kind woman, Inna Nika.
Inna was a regular visitor at the hospital as she visited her sick son every day. When she heard Liza’s screams, the woman got concerned and decided to try and calm her down, since no one else really cared for her.
Inna can’t really describe it herself, but she felt a connection with Liza and wanted to keep coming back for her.
The two kept on bonding, and Inna made sure that Liza would have enough food, clothes, and toys.
One day, however, Inna was left completely heartbroken. She entered Liza’s ward and room, but the girl was nowhere to be found. Apparently, she recovered well enough and was required to leave the hospital.
Liza was already sent to an orphanage, and Inna felt a need to reunite with her. She did her best to track the little girl down, and once she finally succeeded, she just knew that she couldn’t live without Liza in her life.
Inna decided to adopt her.
The process was a bit cumbersome regarding paperwork, and the woman had to wait for a long time until she got an adoption approval. Luckily, it was finally approved and Liza would officially be her adopted daughter.
At this time, Liza was around two years old, and it seemed like she was suffering from trauma because her parents abandoned her. The poor girl couldn’t properly chew, and she also hated to be around loud noises.
Inna knew that it wasn’t going to be easy for Liza, but she wanted to make sure she’d be safe in a warm and loving family.
After she was taken in, Liza’s condition started rapidly improving. She really opened up and blossomed socially, and had amazing self-confidence. When she struggled with walking, Inna decided that she would join her at a dance school, so she wouldn’t have to do it alone.
Liza also started getting more and more attention from her schoolmates and peers, and she has even won numerous beauty contests in talent shows. She can even be seen in commercials for children’s clothes. Apparently, Liza’s popularity hasn’t gone unnoticed.
Her biological mother wanted to get back in touch.
She knew that Liza was doing perfectly fine without her, and wanted to connect with her.
However, the little girl, now around ten years old, didn’t want to have anything to do with her biological mom. Her mom left her to die in that home, and Liza wanted to close that chapter of her life definitively.
In sharp contrast to how her life started, Liza’s future couldn’t be any brighter.
