When you’re in the mood for some fast food but just want to get your meal as quickly as possible, a drive-thru is always a good option. However, it’s certainly no secret that these drive-through experiences are a bit of a hit and miss, and it has been the cause of many faulty orders.
Even though we live in an age of incredible digital innovation, it still seems basically impossible to understand each other clearly through the intercom systems. You never know what you’ll end up ordering!
A Wendy’s employee realized just how frustrating and difficult a drive-through order could be, but then he decided to do something to make customers’ days a little bit brighter.
Most of the customers at a Wendy’s restaurant in Florida definitely have a favorite employee, and his name is Josh Lewis. Whenever Josh is responsible for the drive-through order, you just know you’re going to be in for a treat. His popularity has even made him somewhat of a local celebrity in Florida!
Drive-through intercoms are known for their static, hissing, and pretty hard-to-understand communication, but Josh has a perfect solution for these issues.
When Josh switches over to his “movie trailer” voice, you just can’t help but smile all the way through.
The young man spends most of his time at the drive-through window with a microphone, and his voice has made him quite the superstar at the hamburger restaurant. When you’re limited to just talking over a microphone and speaker, you just have to improvise to make things better.
As soon as someone pulls up and approaches the microphone, they’re greeted with an enthusiastic and excited voice that just oozes charisma.
Josh takes the customer on a whole journey through their order in an absolutely exhilarating, yet always professional, manner. After a while, people started remembering him and can’t praise his work ethics enough. First-time customers are also always eager to see who’s behind this incredible voice.
The employee succeeds in making even the most mundane questions such as “Do you want sauce with your order?” sound epic.
As the comparison is made with the movie trailer voice a lot of times, Josh actually hopes that he can make a job out of his voice one day.
Josh wasn’t always the happy, positive, and energetic drive-through employee. One day, he decided to make a change.
“I hit a dead end, stuck in the fast food industry. Nowhere to go, nothing to do, not enough funds to go anywhere else. So I said, “How can I make this better?” he said to Inside Edition.
The answer? Cheering people up with some drive-through entertainment, of course!
“I can stop being just a drive-through operator, I can be an entertainer!” he added.
His rather negative outlook on his life turned around once he started doing his voice, and it has made him look at his job and his life in a much brighter way.
As for his superiors, the Distract Manager of Wendy’s does realize that what Josh is doing isn’t exactly aligned with the so-called corporate protocol, but they definitely don’t mind either. As long as Josh makes customers happy, he’s a perfect fit for the drive-through.
Josh always gets happy when a customer drives up to him laughing, and it’s small interactions like these that truly make his day.
