Although sometimes our siblings can drive us crazy, we all know that having them is a blessing- sometimes in disguise, we get it, but still a blessing!

Now, some of us, are lucky enough to have a sibling that not only loves and supports us, but would go above and beyond to make sure we are happy. One such example is Maverick Francisco Oyao from Manila, Philippines.

Maverick is studying culture and arts education at college, and he has a younger sister, who has always dreamt of going to her school’s prom.

When the day came that her school announced the ball would take place on Valentine’s Day, the teenage girl was super excited. However, her excitement was soon replaced by disappointment, when her parents explained that they couldn’t afford to rent a prom dress for her.

Lu Asey’s brother hated seeing her so disappointed and sad, so he decided to do something about it. Although he had no idea how to sew, he did some Google research and soon found out how he could make a dress from scratch. Thanks to his mother, who helped him stitch on their manual sewing machine, he was ready to go for it.

So, after looking at some designs online, he found styles he loved in Michael Cinco’s Spring and Summer Collection. Although he loved fashion, he was by no means an expert and it was a leap of faith for him in a way. So, he started working on this project with the help of the community, who gave him all the materials he needed.

The whole thing took a little more than a week: he hand-painted the bodice to give it an ombre look, then he paired plastic flowers with crystal beads to create the details. The end result was just stunning; his sister, Lu Asey, couldn’t have imagined a better dress for her prom- she really looked like a princess in it.

Maverick posted photos of his sister on Facebook and they quickly went viral, with more than 10K likes. Facebook users commented on how creative Maverick is and what a great job he did with it.

“God bless [you] a wonderful talent and an amazing love,” someone wrote, while another user commented: “Wow! The gown is so gorgeous.”

Really, Maverick needs to be awarded a “Brother of the Year” award or something for his support and love towards his little sister. It is truly amazing to see siblings being so close to each other, ready to do anything to help one another. We are really touched by Maverick’s kindness, resourcefulness, and talent.

The young man, after what he did for his sister, started posting other similar sketches on his Facebook page, and, who knows, maybe he just discovered that he has a knack in fashion design and that he should pursue this new passion.

We’re wishing him all the best, and we’re sure his family is very proud of him.
